The Curators Home on Etsy

Anyone who knows us, knows that we love an antique or vintage item in our home. It’s part of the reason we love our 1930s house and I hope that our homes keep getting older, as we progress along the property ladder. We’ve picked up many items along the years, and now we wanted to share our passion with others. In other words, we are delighted to announce our new Etsy shop ‘The Curators Home’ selling lovingly chosen antique and vintage items for the home.

Being on Etsy and actually selling antique and vintage items is new and exciting for both of us. We love sourcing items for ourselves and for friends and family, but we have never extended this passion further, until now. We chose Etsy as a platform as it was easy to use and offered helpful tips for us, as we set this up.

We aim to pick items that appeal to us and that are as lovingly chosen for our customers, as what we chose for our family and friends. In this mindset, we will offer as much information as we know about the item, why we think it’s special and be honest and open in our listing and for any questions.

Our first ever item we’ve listed is one that delights me. It’s a pair of Victorian boot trees, made in the 1800s by C F Alden of Ber Street in Norwich. Although the left boot tree has been cut down at some point in its life and the marks and signs of wear, they still have a vintage charm. For me, their usage is part of their story, the fact that they have been regularly used since the 1800s, so over the past 120-150 years, and still have so much life in them to either be used today as boot trees or as a display item, gives an incredible connection to the past.

We hope this is the first of many incredible antique items that we can give new homes and new life to, and we look forward to seeing where our Etsy platform takes us in the future. If you love antique and vintage items, please do follow our Etsy page for the latest finds.

MM xx
